The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have arrived for the 2020 BAFTAs, a night that will celebrate the best of British and international film. Where William – who is the President of BAFTA – will present an award.
The duke and duchess arrived together on the red carpet, where they posed for photographers before heading inside. Both had brought plenty of glamour to their looks for the occasion, with William opting to keep it classic in a tux and Kate wearing a white-and-gold Alexander McQueen dress that she had first worn to a state dinner during the royal tour of Malaysia in 2012.
The BAFTAs has encouraged attendees to make sustainable choices for this year’s red carpet when it came to their outfits. This included either wearing dresses by sustainable labels, borrowing a dress for the evening or even rewearing an old dress, which is what Kate chose to do.
This is not Kate and William’s first time attending the A-list event. The couple have appeared on the BAFTA red carpet on many occasions in the past, including last year. Where the duchess chose a white, ruffled gown, also by Alexander McQueen.
“We are so pleased the duke and duchess will join us to celebrate another outstanding year in film”. Amanda Berry OBE, chief executive of Bafta, said with the announcement that the couple would be in attendance. “This year marks the duke’s 10th year as BAFTA’s president and his involvement has been invaluable to the work we do, from launching our global new talent activity in 2011, to supporting the BAFTA Scholarships programme and assisting with the most far-reaching fundraising campaign BAFTA has ever undertaken.”
